OUR STORY

Our story begins, as many great love stories do, with a school closure.

When the school Emily taught at shut its doors, many of its students—and a few wonderful staff members—found a new home at the school where Rose was teaching. Although they were both part of the Early Childhood program, they worked in different classrooms on different floors, so their paths didn’t cross much at first.

Fate, however, had other plans.

A shared opportunity landed them in the same Cambridge College cohort, and just like that, they became carpool buddies. Countless afternoons and evenings were spent crawling through Charlestown traffic in Rose’s little green car, complete with its famously stubborn passenger-side window. On a good day, it was stuck up. On a bad day (as evidenced by Emily’s wind-ridden, red cheeks), it was very much stuck down.

Somewhere between carpools, classes, and after-work drinks, a deep friendship took root. With a little help from the luck of the Irish—and a few seconds of truly insane bravery—that friendship blossomed into something more.

They started dating and quickly moved in together (shocking). They began their life side by side in what can only be described as a treehouse apartment in Savin Hill, the neighborhood Emily grew up in. Living just up the street from Emily’s parents meant plenty of family time, and Rose was welcomed into the Gaylord family with open arms. The Curran/McNeill crew returned the love tenfold, embracing Emily with the same warmth and enthusiasm.

It wasn’t long before Rose got down on one knee on Grampian Way, with the Boston skyline glowing behind them, and asked Emily to choose her forever.
Spoiler alert: She said YES!

In the summer of 2025, Rose and Emily shared another unforgettable milestone, walking across the stage together to receive their diplomas—both proudly graduating Summa Cum Laude. As dedicated early childhood educators, they poured their hearts into building meaningful relationships with their students and families, becoming two of the most beloved teachers in their Dorchester Catholic school community.

After much consideration and with loads of support from their loved ones, they were ready to move on to a workplace that would celebrate them fully and authentically. It was time to hang up the "roommate" title they despairingly used for far too long.

That same summer, fate (or perhaps divine intervention) stepped in once again. Both Rose and Emily landed new positions at the very same dream school—one where they could share their whole selves with PRIDE. After 4 years of learning together, working together, and living together, their love has only grown deeper.

And thank goodness Rose ignored what she once considered a “red flag”: Emily’s old profile photo featuring a kayak that looked a little too readily available. Because ever since, they’ve been sailing off together on the greatest adventure of all.
